i2N

Overview.

EA CREATIVE were hired to help translate business requirements to visual artefacts (including wireframes and front-end build). There were various services within the app that needed to be designed from a usability and visual aspect.

During my tenure, we worked closely with users to gather insights and to test the products that were delivered. We ensured that both the business, development team and client were all kept informed at a detailed level as to avoid any discrepancies in deliverables and expected outcomes.

Conforming to GDS standards and the Youth Justice Board brand guidelines was a key part of the work we delivered for the government sector.

A new design for a government system.

The legacy system that was being used by the YJB did not seem to have much input from a visual perspective. During my induction this seemed to be the case across various government platforms that were being used by various teams. Even when applying for security clearance I was faced with a platform that was reminiscent of the early 90’s style design; a time when even the concept of UX design and design patterns were not considered as heavily in web design.

i2N specialise in the development of case management systems, so having the freedom to design the application from scratch meant that we could put into practice an approach that was user-centred.

Quick iterations for rapid response.

We held various workshops with YJB teams and used Balsamiq to build wireframes which enabled us to make iterations within short periods of time until we obtained sign off. The high fidelity visuals were then created and we developed the front-end of these pages ready for backend developers to integrate.
